Make a Movie! (Filming – Lights, Camera, Action)

This 5-hour workshop lets Grade 9–11 students jump into the world of filmmaking by actually making a short movie in one day. Students work in small teams to plan, film, and watch their own video while learning how movies are created behind the scenes. No experience needed — just creativity and teamwork.

In this workshop, you will experience what it’s like to make a movie as part of a team, learn basic filming and storytelling skills, and build confidence using cameras and creative ideas.

 

  • Fun film games and warm-ups
  • Learning cool camera shots and angles 
  • Exploring film roles (director, actor, camera, etc.)

instructor

Ramsey Fendall

Instructor

Ramsey is a cinematographer, director, producer, editor, and co-founder of Sublunar Films in Victoria, BC. With 15 years of experience in New York City as a founding partner of Room 5 Films, he has an extensive portfolio in documentary, narrative, and commercial projects. Notable work includes the short and feature film LUCID, Seymour: An Introduction, Bodega, and Major Arcana. He has also worked as an editor on projects like Moving Midway and A Woman Like Me. Ramsey has taught cinematography and editing at NYU, the School of Visual Arts, and The Edit Center.
