Pattern Drafting I

Students will learn the basic principles of pattern development through patternmaking exercises and assignments. Students will learn to draping patterns using standard measurements and how to manipulate those patterns to achieve a desired design.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

- Recognize garment shapes from designs and illustrations and understand how a flat pattern can be created.

- Complete a 1/4 “ scale book of pattern manipulations.

- Acquire a full set of blocks in industry size standards.

- Demonstrate learned manipulation techniques in a unique garment of their own design.
