The PDA Rundown: Creativity in Full Swing!

Last week was buzzing with activity at Pacific Design Academy! From interior design insights to hands-on textile experiments, our students were firing on all creative cylinders.

On Thursday, November 14, our Interior Design students had the chance to meet Carolina, a PDA alumna who’s been making waves in the industry. She shared her journey after graduation, complete with insider tips and a showcase of her latest projects. Carolina’s stories about finding her unique style and tackling real-world design challenges were inspiring and down-to-earth—proof that big dreams and hard work go hand in hand.

Meanwhile, in the Textiles classroom, students got their hands messy (in the best way) with dyeing experiments. Wool, silk, cotton, polyester, and nylon all made their way into custom dye baths. The challenge? Each fabric needed its own special formulation.

After that, our students swapped dyes for magnifying lenses. Their task? To figure out whether fabrics were woven or knits. By zooming in on the details, they learned how to identify different weaves and yarns, giving them a new appreciation for the materials they’ll one day bring to life in their designs.

From Carolina’s inspiring visit to fabric-focused experiments, our students are taking on new challenges and growing their creative skills every day.
