GD117 Design Fundamentals
This course introduces students to the essential principles and elements of design as a foundation for effective graphic communication. Through a series of discussions and hands-on studio exercises, students will explore visual concepts such as composition, balance, contrast, hierarchy, alignment, and the use of space and imagery. Emphasis will be placed on developing visual literacy, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills that are critical in the graphic design process. With an understanding of these fundamental concepts, students will be able to analyze their own and other designers’ work. Students will also be introduced to a workflow methodology for creating design across two- and three-dimensional work.
