CAD1 - AutoCAD

Students are introduced to computer-aided design. They will learn to apply the most important elements of hand line drawing towards digital technical drawings. Through the details required in line drawings, students will learn the basic code and accessibility issues as they apply to a space. The importance of line weight, composition, and figurative clarity for the visual communication of interior design will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives


Upon completion of this course, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and its applications in interior design.

  • Navigate the AutoCAD interface and understand its tools and functionalities.

  • Create accurate and scaled 2D drawings for interior spaces.

  • Apply layers, linotypes, and colours to organize and differentiate drawing elements.
  • Utilize basic drawing and editing commands to create and modify design elements. .

  • Generate precise measurements and dimensions within drawings.

  • Incorporate symbols, furniture, and fixtures into interior design drawings.
