User Interface Design

This course introduces the foundational principles of User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design, emphasizing research, usability, interaction design, and accessibility. Drawing from best practices of Nielsen Norman Group and Google UX, alongside Just Enough Research by Erika Hall, students will learn how to apply usercentered design methodologies to create effective digital experiences. Hands-on labs will use Figma to develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.

Learning Objectives


On completion of this course, the successful student will be able to :

  • Understand and apply key principles of UX/UI design and user-centered research.

  • Develop personas, user flows, and wireframes, using Figma to build interactive prototypes.

  • Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback.

  • Design for accessibility, inclusivity, and responsive layouts across different devices.

  • Create polished, high-fidelity prototypes, ready for handoff to developers.

Through design agencies he founded, advertising agencies he contracted for, or positions at tech companies—Alexander has had a hand in designing branding and ads for over 300 clients including Bolthouse Farms, Microsoft, Disney, DoorDash, and Quicken.
