A Content Management System (CMS) is a software application that allows users to create, manage, and modify content on a website—often without writing code. This course introduces the core functions and features of a CMS and how they support effective website creation and maintenance. Through hands-on practice with WordPress, a widely used CMS, students will learn foundational skills for building and managing websites.
Upon completion of this course, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Describe the structure of a web service stack (operating system, web server, database, and client-side website).
- Install and configure a local WordPress development environment.
- Work effectively with WordPress themes, plugins, and widgets.
- Publish/deploy a site from a local sandbox to a live environment.
- Locate and use online WordPress documentation and support resources.
