Adobe InDesign is the primary page layout and desktop publishing software used in Graphic Design. Through a series of discussions and practical exercises, this introductory course introduces students to the principles of page layout and graphic communication

Learning Objectives


Upon completion of this course, the successful student will have the ability to reliably demonstrate:

  • Use of basic Adobe InDesign toolset, including text boxes, typography, effects, colours, and the layout and arrangement of multiple components.

  • Creation of single- and multi-page documents on different sized pages.

  • Use of parent pages, style sheets, panels, imported and embedded images.

  • An understanding of the basics of page layout principles: layout, hierarchy, type formatting, kerning, tracking, leading, margins, white space, etc.

INSTRUCTOR – Graphic Media Design

Graduated from the Art institute of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in 2004.  Mychal worked in social gaming at Backstage Technologies (2009) and Gamehouse Canada (2013) where he contributed graphics and artwork for popular social media games like Family Feud & Let’s Make a Deal.
