Adobe Illustrator 1
Adobe Illustrator is the primary illustration tool used in professional Graphic Design. Through a series of discussions and practical exercises we will explore the principles of vector based graphics, and the concepts behind the industry standard PostScript/PDF languages. We will cover: the pen, pencil & brush tools, navigation tools, objects & groups, use of layers, circle and box tools, scissors, cutting and erasing tools, flat, gradient and pattern fills, the tools of transformation—rotate, scale, reflect, and shear, etc—brushes, compound paths, masks, the basic use of type, the use of illustrators tracing tool, and more. We will finish the term with a ‘Logo, Letterhead, Business Cards, and Envelope project’, encompassing all that has been learned this term, while introducing the students to ‘print ready’ elements that are required by the commercial printing industry.
