Create Like a Pro: Phone Photography for Social Media

This fun, hands-on 5-hour workshop teaches students how to take eye-catching photos using only their smartphone. Students will learn how to use lighting, composition, and angles to create strong images for social media. The focus is on creativity, confidence, and telling a story through photos — no technical experience required.

What you'll learn

In this workshop, you will learn how to take stronger, more creative photos using your phone, understand basic photography principles, capture images that tell a story and stand out on social media, and edit your photos using simple, free mobile apps.

 

  • How phone cameras work (settings, focus, exposure)
  • Lighting basics (natural light, indoor light, shadows
  • Composition tips (angels, framing, rule of thirds)

 

  • Photo challenges (portraits, details, movement, storytelling) 
  • Reviewing photos together
  • Simple editing ideas 
  • Creating a mini photo series for social media

Michel Ingram

Instructor

After 37 years in the military, Michel Ingram earned a diploma in Professional Photography and Imaging at PDA, graduating with honours. Now a freelance portrait and fashion photographer, he also teaches seniors, volunteers with the Achieve Anything Foundation, and works at PDA. Guided by the belief that “you don’t take a photograph, you make it,” he values giving back through his craft.
