Brand Basics: Build Your Identity

A 6-week evening workshop to create your own brand strategy and visual identity—backed by thoughtful research and design principles. Whether you're building a personal brand, launching a small business, or refreshing an existing identity, this hands-on workshop is designed to help you clarify your vision and bring it to life. Using Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma, students will move from foundational brand strategy through the development of a clean, compelling visual identity.

What you'll learn
in this workshop

Throughout the course, you’ll explore brand psychology, storytelling, and design principles—culminating in a polished Mini Brand Guide you can use to present your brand consistently across platforms. No previous design experience is required, but comfort with basic computer processes is recommended. You'll also learn how to gather and apply feedback through light research methods like peer critiques, simple surveys, and informal user testing to help guide your brand design decisions with more confidence.

Learn how to define your brand’s mission, values, audience, and voice through guided exercises and brand psychology principles—setting the foundation for a strong, authentic identity

Use Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma to design core visual elements such as logos, color palettes, and typography, transforming your strategy into a compelling brand presence.

Gain confidence in your design decisions by incorporating peer critiques, simple surveys, and informal testing—ensuring your brand resonates with your intended audience.

Lynne Risk

Instructor - Graphic Media Design

Lynne Risk is a multidisciplinary designer, educator, and strategist with 15+ years of experience across design education, creative agencies, and government in-house teams. They specialize in UX, brand, visual, and service design with a focus on accessibility and ethics. Lynne teaches at Pacific Design Academy and serves as its creative director.
